Excellent service. Asked for a free estimate online and had my old upright piano gone from my storage unit within 3 days. I got bids from four companies, and Patriot came in the cheapest. Stanley and Jaimie were professional, efficient, and made the process painless. Absolutely would recommend. Payment options were good, and they didn't pass on the credit card fee. Appreciate the help!

I’m so glad I called TossAway Junk Removal to haul away a heavy sectional couch, a picnic table, headboards and miscellaneous items. They are fast, efficient, and personable. The price was very reasonable. They even swept my driveway afterwards (leaving it cleaner than it had been before!). There was one large item that was too big to fit under the awning on my deck—couldn’t get it out of the backyard—so they cut it into two parts so they could get it to their truck. I was very happy with their service, and will definitely call on them again, next time I need stuff hauled away.

Very nice people. They communicated with us when they couldn’t make the scheduled arrival time and then once they arrived they did an amazing job of cleaning up all the junk. If I need anything in the future they will be my first call!

D&O Garbage is highly dependable, efficient and provides excellent service. We recently needed to have our yard debris bin repaired. I submitted the request, they promptly replied the same day and sent someone out to repair it before we even realized they had been there. Wow! Thank you!

Anne Reuter-Kerzel

I recently set up service after being told by my landlord that they would no longer be paying for garbage. These idiots proceeded to take my garbage cans the day AFTER I paid. Love paying for something I'm not getting, much appreciated!

Local Junk Disposal Rules & Recycling Programs in Salem

  • Weekly curbside trash and recycling in Salem typically use rolling carts placed at the curb or roadside by around 6–7 a.m. on collection day, with carts set out no earlier than the evening before to keep streets and sidewalks clear.
  • Regular household trash goes in your garbage cart, while clean paper, cardboard, and accepted containers go in the recycling cart; bulky items like mattresses, sofas, and large appliances are usually handled through a scheduled bulk pickup or by hiring a private junk removal service.
  • Bulk items for city or hauler-arranged pickup are typically placed at the curb no earlier than 24 hours before your scheduled collection, and should be out by early morning on pickup day; items should be stacked neatly and kept out of the street, off sidewalks, and away from storm drains and mailboxes.
  • Many Salem-area bulk programs and haulers have volume limits of around 3–5 cubic yards per visit (roughly a pile about 6 ft long × 6 ft wide × 3 ft high); larger cleanouts, such as moving or estate situations, often require special arrangements, multiple trips, or a dumpster.
  • Construction and demolition debris (such as drywall, roofing, concrete, tile, and large quantities of lumber) is typically not accepted in regular bulk pickup and often must be taken to a transfer station, placed in a rented dumpster, or removed by a junk removal company that handles heavy materials.
  • Hazardous materials like paint, chemicals, automotive fluids, propane tanks, and certain electronics usually cannot go in curbside trash or standard bulk piles; these items often need to be taken to a designated household hazardous waste facility or special collection event.
  • To keep neighborhoods in Salem safe and tidy, residents should bundle or contain loose items when possible, avoid blocking driveways or alleys, and make sure parked vehicles do not block access for collection trucks.

Because local rules and services can change, always confirm the latest trash, recycling, and bulk pickup guidelines on the official city or county sanitation website before placing items at the curb.

Frequently Asked Questions about Salem Junk Removal

What kinds of items do junk removal companies in Salem, Oregon usually take?

Most Salem junk removal services will haul away furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, bagged trash, yard waste, and general household clutter. Many also handle garage cleanouts, office furniture, and small amounts of construction debris, as long as it’s non-hazardous.

Will Salem junk haulers donate or recycle my usable items?

Many junk removal companies in Salem try to donate gently used furniture, appliances, and household goods to local charities and reuse centers, and they often recycle metals, electronics, and cardboard. When you book, ask the hauler how they handle donations and what percentage of materials they typically divert from the landfill.

Do I need to be on-site for a junk removal pickup in Salem?

In Salem, it’s often best to be on-site for the first visit so you can point out exactly what needs to go and approve the final price. Some companies will do curbside or driveway pickups without you present if everything is clearly labeled and paid for in advance.

How far in advance should I schedule junk removal in Salem?

For standard loads, many Salem haulers can schedule pickups within 1–3 business days, especially on weekdays. During busy times like spring cleaning or moving season, it’s smart to book at least a week ahead, and even earlier for large estate cleanouts or renovation debris.

Will junk removal companies in Salem take construction and remodeling debris?

Many local haulers will take small to moderate amounts of remodeling debris like wood, cabinets, and flooring, but heavy materials such as concrete, brick, and roofing may cost extra or require a dumpster. Always describe your project in detail so the Salem company can confirm what they accept and quote accurate pricing.

Can junk removal services in Salem pick up items from apartments or upstairs units?

Yes, most Salem junk removal providers will remove items from apartments, condos, and upstairs rooms, but there may be extra labor charges for stairs, long carries, or tight access. Let them know about elevators, parking, and any building rules when you schedule.

Responsible Junk Removal in Salem

Responsible junk removal in Salem means doing more than just clearing out clutter—it means giving usable items a second life and keeping as much as possible out of the landfill. Before throwing things away, consider donating furniture, appliances, and household goods that are still in good condition, and look for haulers who separate out metals, electronics, and cardboard for recycling.

Avoid illegal dumping in empty lots, rural areas, creeks, or other waterways, since it harms the environment and can lead to fines. When comparing services on Junk Removal 365, Salem residents can look for providers that clearly explain their donation partners, recycling practices, and landfill diversion efforts, helping you choose a hauler that prioritizes reuse, donation, and responsible disposal.
