Peace of Mind Services is one of those small, owner-forward junk crews you hear about in Salem and the surrounding area where the whole operation basically runs on Matt picking up the phone, giving you a straight price, and then showing up when he says he will. And in this line of work, that “on time” part matters more than people think. You’d be surprised how many outfits can haul a couch but can’t communicate along the way.
Most of the reviews read the same way because the jobs are the same way: furniture removal, bulky items, mattresses, box springs, coffee tables, bookshelves—stuff that’s awkward, heavy, and annoying in tight hallways. But Matt and his guy (Andrew comes up too) keep it clean and efficient. They don’t turn it into a production. They make getting rid of furniture simple and easy, no fuss, in and out, done.
Communication is the big theme. People fill out a request for a quote at night and get a call back within a couple hours. Same-day pickup comes up more than once. That tells me they’re not overbooked to the point of chaos, and they actually run a schedule instead of “we’ll be there sometime Tuesday-ish.” Need a next-day pickup? They seem to make it happen. Want updates? They give them. How many junk companies do that without you chasing them.
Pricing sounds like the other reason folks keep recommending them—fair price, affordable, reasonably priced, “good price,” even “Quick, Cheap and Efficient.” Now, in the real world, “cheap” can mean sloppy. Yet nobody’s describing sloppy here. They’re saying smooth, quick, respectful, professional. That’s the combo you want when you’re trying to clear out an elderly parent’s place or you’re mid-move and just need the bulky items gone.
And yeah, the vibe matters. People keep saying Matt’s funny, “work with a smile,” easy to deal with. That doesn’t move the couch by itself, but it changes the whole feel of letting someone into your home to drag a mattress through your doorway, doesn’t it. Who wants a grumpy crew stomping around your floors.
But to keep it honest—there is one review that says “Rude take business elsewhere.” That’s the outlier against a pile of five-stars, so I read it as either a bad moment or a mismatch in expectations. Every operator gets one sooner or later. However, the pattern across the other jobs points to a crew that’s typically kind, professional, and responsive, especially when the job is straightforward and the customer wants it handled fast.
If you’re local and you want a company that answers, shows up on time, gives a clear quote, and hauls the ugly stuff out without drama, Peace of Mind Services has built that reputation the old-fashioned way—job after job, no excuses.
