Rumpke - Garrard County Transfer Station

About Rumpke - Garrard County Transfer Station
I haven’t come across many junk removal outfits with a setup like Rumpke at the Garrard County Transfer Station in Lancaster, KY. They're not your run-of-the-mill haulers who just show up and grind through a job. From what folks have said, ...

Matthew Maple is an exceptional employee! We rented a container to clean and gut our house. Unfortunately, we forgot to call on Friday to extend the rental and planned to reach out first thing Monday morning. However, the driver beat us to it — arriving just ten minutes before opening! Matthew patiently waited for us to call so we could find out what the drop fee would be. When we learned it was too expensive to keep ($250 for anyone else wondering), we decided to let the container go, even though we still had a few large items left that we couldn’t haul to the dump ourselves. The driver went above and beyond by offering to help me move those remaining items (my SO works third shift in Louisville and wasn’t home to help) before taking the container. It was such a thoughtful gesture — something he didn’t have to do but chose to out of kindness. In a time when genuine compassion and customer service are increasingly rare, this act of kindness truly stood out and was deeply appreciated. Matthew absolutely deserves recognition and a raise for his outstanding work ethic and exceptional service!

It’s honestly embarrassing that Madison County and nearby areas rely on Rumpke to serve their residents. Their business model is mediocre at best , disorganized, unresponsive, and completely lacking in accountability. If you request curbside trash pickup, prepare to wait weeks without a clear answer on when (or if) it’ll happen. I’ve had to call them over five times just to get a basic service fulfilled, and still nothing. Even worse, while you’re left waiting, the city may fine you $100 for trash sitting out, even if it’s Rumpke’s fault for not picking it up! There’s no warning, no communication, just a fine for something outside your control. To add insult to injury, Rumpke expects you to keep track of their drivers and report when they fail to do their jobs. If you don’t catch it and report it fast enough, expect extra fees from Madison County if you try to appeal... Your bill may double. Is this really the best Madison County can do for its residents? Rumpke isn’t just providing poor service, it’s creating stress and unnecessary costs for the very people it’s supposed to serve. This isn’t just trash pickup. It’s a trash experience from start to finish.
