“I used this company for a recent move. The workers were kind and worked diligently, but I didn’t have a great experience with the office staff. The workers came and worked efficiently and were pleasant. They did make some decisions to use materials that I was later charged for (like wrapping my TV and furniture) without asking or letting me know that I was going to be charged for those things, which I didn’t appreciate. When requesting a quote online, I indicated that I would need proof of insurance for the move. When the movers showed up, they didn’t have it with them, so they had to contact an office staff member. He also didn’t have the proof of insurance, and after 40 minutes, he was able to email me assurance that the workers are covered in case of injury, and only then were we able to start moving. When it was time for the final bill, he charged from the time that the workers showed up until the time they finished, effectively charging me for the delay caused by his inability to provide the paperwork. When pressed on this, he essentially told me that I was the one who caused the delay (for them not having the document I’d requested) and falsely claimed that I’d been asked over the phone multiple times if I’d need to see the insurance (this never happened). After 30 minutes or so of arguing with my lawyer while his workers were patiently waiting to leave, he agreed to reduce the overtime charge but did not remove it. The initial estimate was better than a competing moving company that I looked into, but between the unexpected materials charges and the overtime charge, I’m not sure how much of a difference there was.”
